Fast and lightweight, the platform’s most known for creating 2D platformers, puzzle games and metroidvanias, but it’s also highly capable for 3D projects, as a new video tutorial series sets out to demonstrate. If you’re looking for help to get up to speed with using the software now that you can’t use vibe coding, this Youtube course might be the hand you need.

The GameDev Tavern’s free Godot tutorial series will show how to use the software to build a 3D dungeon crawler from scratch in 20 hours. The example game in question is Goblins’ Den, which you can download via Itch.io.
Over the 20 video episodes, you’ll be able to build all of the game’s assets, from models to rigs, animations, textures and sound. Topics include shaders, lighting, node-based state machines, composition models, ragdoll physics, pathfinding and level design.
The channels stresses that the course is aimed at intermediate to advanced developers, although it avoids complex maths.
The first four episodes of the series are already live on YouTube. The next stages will be posted on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday at 9.00am PST.
